1. Altea

It could be said that it is one of the best known and most charming towns in Alicante, for being located on the Costa Blanca and, also, for its unparalleled beauty.

Of small dimensions and cobbled streets, Altea invites us to visit it to see whitewashed houses that have been maintained for four centuries. At the top of the town is the old town, with the main square and the church of Nuestra Señora del Consuelo, with its domes of white and blue tiles.

2. Guadalest

Another of Alicante’s acquaintances. It is located in the Guadalest valley, more precisely at the top of a mountain. You can imagine that from up there the views of the landscape are spectacular.

This beautiful town has many attractions, such as the 11th century castle-fortress. Other places of interest are Casa Orduña and the Ethnological and Nativity Scene and Dollhouse Museums.

3. Jávea

It is located on the north coast of Alicante, within the Marina Alta region. The Barraca beach and the Granadella cove will leave you amazed by their beauty. Do not forget to visit the church of San Bartolomé, from the 16th century and with a bell tower that stands out above the town. Other attractions are the watchtowers, the monastery of the Virgen de los Ángeles and the church of Nuestra Señora de Loreto.

4. Novelda

It belongs to the Medio Vinalopó region. It is known in the region for its grape production, as well as the marble and spice trade.

Within the heritage of Novelda we find the Arciprestal de San Pedro and San Roque churches.  Also noteworthy are the Gómez Tortosa cultural center, the Modernist House Museum, the Casino, the Municipal Archaeological Museum, the Town Hall and the Glorieta. To the northwest of the town is the castle of La Mola, of Almohad origin.

5. Calpe

It is in the Marina Alta region, north of Alicante. Calpe is known for its rock of Ifach, a 332-meter rock  and symbol of the Costa Blanca. Rock that dominates a wonderful natural park.

The other places of interest in this town are the hermitages of El Salvador de Calpe and San Juan de la Cometa, the Parish and Antigua churches, the Baños de la Reina, the castle-fortress, the Torreón de la Piece, Pou Salat (construction 18th century rural area) and the Lavadero fountain.

6. Villajoyosa

Within the Costa Blanca and crossed by the Amadoiro River, “La Vila”, as it is known locally, had its heyday in the Middle Ages thanks to Jaime I. Later it served as a defense against the Berber pirates.

The tourist attractions of Villajoyosa are the Historic-Artistic Complex of La Vila  with its old walls and towers. You should also visit the Villa Giacomina, the Malladeta sanctuary and the public baths of Allon and the Vilamuseu. As for the beaches, we recommend La Caleta and Estudiantes.

7. Villena

“Very Noble, Very Loyal and Loyal” are the titles that this town of Alto Vinalopó holds. In Villena there are many places that are worthwhile in its historic center. The Atalaya Castle, the Municipal Palace, the Salvatierra Castle, the Arciprestal Church of Santiago Apóstol, the Plaza Mayor and the houses of the Selva and Mergelina families stand out.
