In the middle of the Caribbean Sea and to the east of the island shared by the Dominican Republic and Haiti, Punta Cana is a paradise with all the letters. With its 5-star hotel complexes, its white sand beaches and crystal clear waters and its warm climate all year round, it is an ideal destination to go as a family, as a couple or with friends. Here we tell you everything about this beautiful Central American destination.

All the attractions of Punta Cana

In addition to enjoying all the services of the “all-inclusive” hotel establishments with sea views in Punta Cana, we can choose a different beach every day, practice water sports, play golf, go horseback riding, visit theme parks, do boat trips to nearby islands, learn about the local culture and much more. These are the main attractions:

1. Beaches

Of course, we cannot start without talking about its beautiful and indescribable beaches. The best known is Bávaro, with its miles and miles of sand, ideal for enjoying family walks at any time of the day. Don’t miss El Cortecito and Los Corales, a fishing village with restaurants, bars and shopping centers.

Other beaches in Punta Cana are Arena Gorda, Macao (20 minutes north of Bávaro, virgin, wild and ideal for surfing, chosen by the locals) and Úvero Alto (it is the area outside the hotel complexes and does not have tourist services , but it is perfect for those who seek tranquility and spend a family day without interruptions).

2. Theme parks

If you go on vacation with your children, you may want to do something else besides going to the beach. A good option is the theme parks of Punta Cana, located in the Cap Cana area. For example, Scape Park has ecotourism and adventure tours to interact with nature. You can visit a cave and a jungle in the same day!

Another alternative is the Sirenis Aquagames park, with giant slides and huge pools for the whole family to have fun regardless of age.

3. National Park of the East

If you are a nature lover, this place in Punta Cana will leave you speechless. The great biodiversity of this park is worthy of admiration. Stalactite caves, mangroves, petroglyphs on the rocks … an area that has hardly been touched by man.

In the insular part of the park is Saona Island, with its coral reefs and its small town called Mano Juan (where you can buy handicrafts and eat fish).

4. Altos de Chavón

This small town with medieval Italian architecture was created in 1976 and offers us beautiful panoramic views of the Chavón River. It has an amphitheater where internationally renowned artists have performed. It also has restaurants, spaces dedicated to art (including workshops and schools), a church and several shops.

5. Indigenous Eyes Ecological Reserve

This protected area is home to 12 transparent water lagoons (it is allowed to bathe in 3 of them) in the middle of a forest reserve. In total, the reserve has about 600 hectares and all its landscapes are beautiful.

Just remember to follow the marked trails to enjoy the ride. You can also visit an animal farm and an iguana area, go horseback riding along the beach or go on a catamaran excursion.

6. Catalina Island

It is a desert island where snorkeling and diving are practiced. It is located one hour from Punta Cana and to get there you must go by boat from the town of La Romana. It is worth spending the day on Catalina Island enjoying the calm and crystal clear waters. You will not want to return!

As you can see, there are many reasons to go on a family vacation to Punta Cana. Its magnificent beaches, its luxurious and complete hotels, its culture, its nature, its climate and, of course, its landscapes are just some of the reasons why you should pack your bags and enjoy this fantastic destination as soon as possible.
